Walk With Us Through These Open Doors

Greetings OneTribe Family

Through so many seasons, you have graciously journeyed with us in prayer, partnership and friendship. We’re incredibly grateful for this – for YOU! Together, we’ve witnessed extraordinary ways God has moved to bring a durable, grassroots-up peace within deeply divided, war-impacted communities of East and Central Africa. This continues – and such peace OneTribe introduces begins and extends always with Jesus Christ who transforms even the darkest of circumstances and most hardened of aggressors into places of hope – and people of peace.

Today we’re writing with news of vast and rapid expansion! Along with this, we’re also sharing a unique opportunity to respond with us to the critical need of equipping new leaders, pastors, and networks in some of the most distant, war-torn, and unreached places on Earth. To this, we have set a goal of raising $60,000 by June 15th. We fully believe – and continue seeing – when local people begin grasping and practicing a Christ-centered peace, their lives are changed. So often, too, are their relationships and communities.

OneTribe Expands into the Democratic Republic of the Congo

In two weeks, a USA team will travel to the northern Uganda/South Sudan/Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) border. There, we will gather in the refugee resettlement region of Adjumani to equip local pastors and community leaders traveling from eastern DRC with OneTribe’s gospel-centered peacebuilding programming and processes (follow this link for context/history of decades-long DRC conflict: http://bit.ly/4jj8y0H and this link for current situation: https://bit.ly/4k5Mtni). This will be done alongside our skilled local network with the goal of these newly trained DRC leaders returning home to share the enduring peace of Christ as a way of life in their communities and within neighboring refugee resettlement camps. We’re so eager to meet for the first time with these precious brothers and sisters longing for peace in their communities and nation!

OneTribe’s Regenerate to Address Acute Food Insecurity

At the same time, due to growing food insecurity and final food ration cuts in the northern Uganda refugee settlement regions where OneTribe serves, we will be expanding Regenerate farming activities. We will be doing the same in areas of Sudan and South Sudan where OneTribe is present via our peace programming. OneTribe’s Regenerate equips communities with local regenerative farming skills that help tend and nurture the soil. The result is increased food security as local people are able to sustainably feed themselves, their families and even pursue economic opportunities in local markets.

These new expansions will include multiple, acres-wide community farming plots throughout refugee resettlement districts. This will be done through OneTribe farming teams working closely with our peace envoys, local government and district leadership. Farming training will also be accelerated to equip new communities with skills that bring access to increased food.

Other Opportunities

We look forward to sharing more details on these other, exciting expansions in the weeks ahead:

  • OneTribe peacebuilding expansion into new, local languages reaching:

    • The Horn of Africa (this project has potential to reach all four countries, extending to yet-unreached people groups within!)

    • Darfurian communities (extending to people groups unreached with the gospel)

    • Acholi-speaking communities impacted by atrocities of the former Lord’s Resistance Army

  • Peace through farming in South Sudan

    • This opportunity integrates our comprehensive, Christ-centered peacebuilding programming and processes with regenerative farming training that will bring together the 64 tribes of South Sudan to engage in a 10,000 acre farming project.

  • OneTribe radio drama episodes moving into live-action video format

    • We are working closely with partners and friends at Good News Production International (GNPI) and are in the process of adapting the 52 OneTribe radio drama episodes to a live-action video series!

Will You Pray and Partner With Us in Reaching Our Goal of $60,000?

First, will you pray fervently and often with us over these many open doors to share the gospel of peace in these deeply remote, torn-by-war and often unreached places? More than anything, we want people everywhere we serve to encounter, follow, and be transformed by Jesus Christ, the prince of peace. Nineteenth century British missionary, Hudson Taylor wrote of his experience as a pioneer missionary to China: ‘I have found that there are three stages in every great work of God: first it is impossible, then it is difficult, then it is done.’ He concludes, ‘You must go forward on your knees.’ We couldn’t agree more fully – and we ask you to please pray with us.

Next, will you prayerfully consider partnering with us financially? As you know, OneTribe’s fundraising appeals are rare outside of our semi-annual gala (2025 is not a gala year) and an end-of-year opportunity to share a gift. We know and respect resources are limited and there are many opportunities that compel our attention. This said, given the extraordinary, current opportunities before us that may bring the message of Christ-centered peace further, deeper and wider than in any time in our past, we ask you to prayerfully consider donating a gift to help us reach this goal of $60,000.

Blessings and peace,

Elizabeth Hankins and the OneTribe team
